Wayfinding & Signage Systems
Industrial Design, worldwide
Overview
Across a diverse portfolio of over 70 projects, I worked and led the industrial design of signage and wayfinding systems—spanning retail, hospitality, mixed-use developments, and public infrastructure. These projects ranged from large-scale masterplans to detail-intensive interior systems, requiring a nuanced understanding of space, movement, and brand translation into physical form.
Design Scope & Approach
My role spanned end-to-end design involvement—from early concept ideation and schematic development to overseeing design detailing and guiding fabrication documentation. The process was rooted in functionality, brand coherence, and architectural integration.
Key contributions included:
Concept Development – Created scalable design systems tailored to diverse environments, ensuring a consistent visual language across signage hierarchies (directional, identification, regulatory).
3D Modeling & Rendering – Used Rhinoceros 3D for modeling and KeyShot for high-fidelity renderings to communicate form, finish, and spatial context.
Material & Construction Detailing – Worked closely with architects, engineers, and signage fabricators to translate design intent into durable, manufacturable elements—considering structural feasibility, weather resistance, and ease of installation.
Fabrication Oversight – Reviewed technical drawings, conducted site reviews, and guided vendors during prototyping and production to ensure alignment with the approved design direction.
Design Highlights
Integrated Systems – Designed modular signage units for ease of maintenance and brand adaptation across multiple properties within a client’s portfolio.
Sustainable Choices – Where possible, recommended low-impact materials such as powder-coated aluminum, etched stainless steel, and LED backlit illumination to enhance visibility with minimal energy use.
Client Diversity – Projects spanned international airports, luxury resorts, theme parks, urban parks, and mall developments—each requiring a tailored user experience and navigational clarity.
Impact & Recognition
The systems have been successfully implemented across GCC and other parts of the world, improving user orientation and reinforcing each client’s visual identity in a built environment. Several of these solutions continue to serve as baseline systems for expansion projects.
